July 21, 2009 – Alexander Santiago and his girlfriend Indiana Rivera, 32 and 22 respectively, both from Salem, Massachusetts, suffered serious personal injuries when their blue Pontiac was struck by a red 2000 BMW traveling the wrong way on an off ramp on Route 93 North. The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Monday. Rubin Sanchez, 25 of Cambridge, was driving the BMW. Sanchez’s passenger, Joseph Dioguardi, 28 from Medford, was also seriously injured in the crash.
Dioguardi was first taken to Lawrence General Hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Boston. Santiago, Rivera, and Sanchez were all taken to local hospitals for their injuries.
Sanchez was arrested and charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated and was to be arraigned yesterday at Salem District Court. The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
