Marblehead, Massachusetts Teen Mourned After Pedestrian Accident

August 27, 2009 – Alessandra Castner, 15 from Marblehead, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when she was struck by a car. A Volvo, driven by an unidentified man, hit Castner when she was at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Mohawk Road in Marblehead on Monday.

Castner was first taken to Salem Hospital and then later transferred by a medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where she unfortunately died. 

Castner would have been a sophomore at Marblehead High School.  Naturally, the entire community is devastated.  A memorial has been set up near the crash site and a vigil was held on Tuesday. 

The exact cause of the crash is unclear at this time and the accident remains under investigation by the Marblehead Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office
