April 1, 2014: Sterling Hall, 57, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and his passenger Kyle Clini, 22, of Ludlow, sustained serious personal injuries in an auto accident on Interstate 91 on Sunday.  Julio Perez, 27, also of Springfield struck Hall’s vehicle, but didn’t remain at the scene of the accident.  The crash took place between exits 3 and 4 in the northbound lane of I-91 at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Once Hall’s car came to a rest against a guard rail, Clini got out to inspect the damage and was hit by another driver, who then crashed into the car, while Hall was still seated.  Shortly after the second accident Hall and Clini were transported to Baystate Medical Center and treated for their injuries.

Shortly after the accidents, Perez was stopped by the Massachusetts State Police on Orange Street in Springfield, and arrested.  According to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, he is being charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.
