Avon, Massachusetts: Cambridge Man Killed in 2 Car Accident on Route 24

January 22, 2015: Last Sunday morning, January 18, 2015, Winchel Auburg, 41, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle.  The accident occurred on Route 24 southbound in Avon, near Exit 18.  The names of the driver and passenger of the second car have not yet been released.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police, and the Avon Fire Department arrived on the scene of the accident at approximately 3:30 am.  Auburg was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was later pronounced dead.  The driver and passenger in the other vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries, and were also taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, as well as the State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services Section.  As of today, no criminal charges have been filed.
