Dartmouth, Massachusetts: Elderly Women Dies after Being Struck by a Car

July 30, 2015: Hortense Medeiros, 78, from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, has succumbed to her injuries after she was struck by a car earlier this week. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Medeiros was walking on Russells Mill Road, near Dartmouth High School. When she was hit by a car, operated by April Pimental, 27, of New Bedford.

Medeiros was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with significant injuries, where she later died.  Pimental was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, but with unknown injuries. Dartmouth Police closed the road for an hour.

The Dartmouth Police continue to investigate the accident, and it is not known whether any charges will be brought against Pimental.
