Westport, Massachusetts Crash Kills Two

September 2, 2010 - Khith Kheav, 75, from Fall River, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a two car accident in Westport. Constance Bancroft, 61, from Somerset, was driving the other vehicle involved in the collision. The accident occurred along Route 195 at around 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Kheav's 1995 Nissan Quest was traveling east and then crossed the grass median into the westbound lanes prior to colliding with Bancroft's 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Kheav was pronounced dead at the scene. Bancroft was transported by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

This accident remains under investigation by the State Police.

Boston, Massachusetts Rollover Accident

August 9, 2010 - Jose Domingues, 39, from Boston, Massachusetts was involved in a car accident when he allegedly ran a red light and collided with another vehicle. Domingues' van rolled over after smashing into the other car. The accident occurred on Sunday in Roxbury at the intersection of Dudley Street and Harrison Avenue.

Neither driver was injured in the crash. Domingues was arrested and charged with running a red light and driving with a revoked license.

The accident remains under investigation.

Worcester, Massachusetts Wrong Way Accident Kills Two

July 19, 2010 - Ashley Hannan, 23, from Worcester, Massachusetts, and Thomas Serewicz, 23, from Fitchburg have died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Steven Larson, 25, from Worcester, was seriously injured when he was riding as a passenger in Serewicz' truck. Apparently, Hannan was traveling the wrong way on Route 190 North in Worcester when her car collided head on with Serewicz' northbound pick up truck. The accident occurred early on Saturday.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Hannan and Serewicz were pronounced dead at the scene. Larson was transported to UMass Medical Center and has since been released.

The accident remains under investigation, but the State Police said the cause of the accident was a combination of Hannan's wrong way operation and her speed.

Westford, Massachusetts Teen Injured When Hit by Elderly Driver

July 1, 2010 - Katie Enos, 14, from Westford, Massachusetts suffered serious personal injuries when she was struck by a car while jogging with a friend on Carlisle Road. Richard Shattuck, 84, from Stoneham, was driving the vehicle that hit Enos. The accident occurred Tuesday at around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Concord Road in Westford.

A medical helicopter transported Enos from the scene to Children's Hospital in Boston, where she is currently being treated for life threatening injuries. The friend who was joggin with Enos was not injured in the accident.

Shattuck, who was driving home from New Hampshire, claims that the accident was not his fault. The accident remains under investigation by the Westford Police Department, who have not filed charges against Shattuck.

New Bedford, Massachusetts Racing Accident Injures Two Toddlers

June 1, 2010 - Sonia Mouco, 36, from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, suffered serious personal injuries when her Volkswagen Jetta was side-swiped by a Honda Civic, which was apparently racing a Honda Accord along Route 18 South in New Bedford. Xaviel Quinones, 18, of New Bedford, was operating the Accord while traveling with two 2 year old boys in the back seat. Brittany Oliveira, 18, also from New Bedford, was riding as a passenger in one of the racing cars and was ejected from that vehicle. Carlos Rodrigues Jr.'s Acura, which was traveling northbound on Route 18, was struck with flying debris from the accident. The accident occurred on Sunday near the Purchase Street exit.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the Civic, driven by an unidentified 17 year old, hit the right side of Mouco's car and then collided with the Accord. The impact of the crash was so great that the engine from one of the racing cars flew out of the vehicle. The debris that hit Rodirigues Jr.'s car scratched its body and caused one window to break and another to crack. Mouco said she could hear the children screaming in the Accord, but was unable to get out of her own car to rescue them.

Both of the toddlers were taken from the scene by medical helicopter. One was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the other was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence. Oliveira was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition as of Monday. Mouco suffered injuries in the crash and is recuperating at her parent's home. Apparently, none of the injuries suffered in the collision were life threatening.

State police issued several citations to the operators of the Civic and Accord for violations including speeding and racing. This accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.

Sandwich, Massachusetts Pedestrian Hit by Car

May 16, 2010 - Keith Yorke, 55, from Sandwich, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a 1997 Ford Escort, driven by Nicole Giles, 18, from Mashpee. The accident occurred at around 5:17 a.m. while Yorke was walking his dog along Asa Meiggs Road.

Yorke was transported by ambulance to Forestdale School and was then taken by a medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Giles was not injured in the crash. According to the Sandwich Police Department, Giles called police from the scene to notify them of the accident.

The crash is still under investigation by the Sandwich Police and no charges have been filed.

Hampton Beach, New Hampshire Accident Injures Young Man and Child

May 3, 2010 - Ashley Keohan, 25, from North Andover, Massachusetts apparently lost control of her vehicle and collided with a guardrail causing serious personal injuries to a male front seat passenger and her 15 month old son.  The male passenger, whose identity has not been released, was thrown from the vehicle.  Keohan was traveling northbound near 415 Ocean Boulevard in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire at around 6:30 p.m.  

The child was strapped into a car seat and was transported by ambulance to Exeter Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The male passenger was taken by a medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  He was apparently not wearing a seatbelt.  Keohan was not injured in the crash.

According to the Hampton Police Department, Keohan was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.  The accident remains under investigation by the Hampton Police.

Peabody, Massachusetts Single Car Accident Ends Young Man's Life

April 20, 2010 - Ryan Smith, 21, from Amesbury, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was ejected from a car on Sunday. Corey Nason, 22, from Sanford, Maine, was driving the car, which rolled over on the ramp from Route 1 North to Route 128 in Peabody. The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m.

Apparently, Nason lost control of the 2005 Saturn Ion causing it to roll over several times before coming to a stop on the median. During the rollover, Smith was ejected from the vehicle and was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Nason was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by the responding firefighters. Nason was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Nason was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, while Smith was not. The cause of the accident is uncertain at this time and it remains under investigation.

Medford, Massachusetts: Tufts University Pedestrian Injured in Crash

April 15, 2010 - A Tufts University student suffered serious personal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle as he was attempting to cross an intersection in Medford, Massachusetts. The accident occurred when the driver was trying to make a right turn from Boston Avenue onto College Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Medford Police Department and Tufts University Police Department responded to the scene.
 
The student was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and ankle. The driver was apparently not injured during the accident.

According to the Tufts Police, the driver was a resident of Medford and was not affiliated with the school. Neither police department has released the identities of the driver or the student.

The busyness of the intersection is the likely cause of the collision, but police have not stated an official reason. The accident remains under investigation.

Lynn, Massachusetts Devastating Accident Ends in Teen's Death

March 22, 2010 - Julia Gauthier, 19, from Salem, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when she was ejected from a vehicle driven by Christopher Maxson, 19, from Marblehead. According to the Lynn Police Department, Maxson failed to stop at two stop signs before his Toyota 4 Runner collided with a vehicle on Eastern Avenue in Lynn at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. The 4 Runner then hit two other cars on Glenwood Street causing it to rollover.

As the 4 Runner rolled over, Gauthier was ejected from the SUV through the sunroof and was dragged for approximately 30 feet. Unfortunately, Gauthier was pronounced dead at the scene. Maxson and two other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries. The group was apparently coming from a party on Eastern Avenue.

Maxson has been charged motor vehicle homicide, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop at a stop sign. He is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

Holliston, Massachusetts: Black Ice May Have Caused Two Rollovers

March 18, 2010 - Claudia Berry, 54, and Bryce Brackett, 64, both from Holliston, Massachusetts, were involved in separate rollover accidents on Tuesday. Apparently, black ice caused both crashes. Berry's accident occurred at around 6:40 a.m. when her Ford Explorer slipped on ice at the intersection of Washington Street and Balancing Rock Drive. At around 7:05 p.m., Brackett's Chevy pickup truck rolled over on Highland Street after skidding on black ice.

Berry suffered serious personal injuries and firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate her from the vehicle. She was transported by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital. According to the Holliston Police Department, Berry was not wearing a seatbelt.

Brackett was not injured in his accident. The Holliston Police have not issued citations to Berry or Brackett and continue to investigate the crashes.

Attleboro, Massachusetts Accident Leaves Baby Dead and Two Adults Injured

March 15, 2010 - Ashley Derochea, 20, from Brockton, Massachusetts and Michael Cornell, 21, suffered serious personal injuries in a car accident that left their infant passenger dead. According to the Massachusetts State Police, Derochea lost control of her 1998 Honda Accord and it careened into the right side guardrail. The car then rolled over and eventually collided with the left side guardrail. The accident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday just north of exit 2 on Route 95 South in Attleboro.

Both Derochea and Cornell were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and treated for serious injuries. The baby, who was ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where it was pronounced dead.

It is unclear at this time if the baby was buckled into an approved car seat. The accident remains under investigation by the state police.

Waltham, Massachusetts Five Car Accident on Route 128 Injures Three People

March 9, 2010 - Michael Gallant, 51, from Somerville, Massachusetts suffered serious personal injuries when his vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Route 128 South, triggering a five car pileup. Vicki Pardallis, 39, from Medford, and Celia Cohen, 52, from Randolph, were also injured in the crash. The accident happened just past midnight on Saturday near Winter Street in Waltham.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Gallant's 1999 Toyota Camry careened into the left guardrail and then spun out of control. Pardallis' 2003 Ford Crown Victoria and Cohen's 2004 Nissan Maxima crashed into the Camry. A 2005 Ford Focus and a 1993 Toyota Corrolla were also involved in the accident, but their drivers were not injured.

Gallant was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where he was listed as in intensive care on Sunday evening. Pardallis and Cohen were both taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Gallant is expected to be charged criminally for driving with a suspended license and driving without proper authority. The accident remains under investigation and the state police are looking into whether or not alcohol was a factor.

Andover, Massachusetts Tractor Trailer Accident Injures Three

March 3, 2010 - Larry Armstrong, 47, from Attleboro, Massachusetts, has suffered serious personal injuries as a passenger in a 1997 Chevrolet Geo Prizm, which was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer. Varry Ramos, 33, from Worcester, who was driving the tractor trailer, and the driver of the Prizm were also injured in the crash. The driver of the Prizm was an unidentified 17 year old male from Attleboro. The accident occurred on Route 495 South in Andover at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the driver of the Prizm lost control of his vehicle shortly after merging onto Route 495 South from Route 95 North. The car careened into a guard rail and was then hit by the truck.

Armstrong and the driver of the Prizm were taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where their injuries were described as serious. Ramos was transported by a medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

The accident remains under investigation by the State Police.

Norwood, Massachusetts Crash Leaves One Teen Dead and Two Others Injured

March 2, 2010 - Paul Hanley, 17, from Westwood, Massachusetts and a senior at Westwood High School, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single car crash in Norwood. According to the Norwood Police Department, black ice caused Hanley to lose control of his 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hanley's passengers, a 17 year old male and a 19 year old male, were both injured in the crash. The accident occurred near Winter Street at around 12:17 a.m. on Sunday.

Apparently, after the Jeep slid on the ice, it collided with a utility pole and then a stone wall. Hanley and the passenger in the back seat had to be extricated from the vehicle. Hanley was pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger was taken by ambulance to Caritas Norwood Hospital and the other was transported by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Police are unsure if there were other factors involved in the accident besides the ice. The crash remains under investigation by the Norwood Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.
